This book is intended for the children of multiples -- be they female or male bodied -- but I expect it to be helpful for others. For children whose lives are touched on by multiples (multiple grandma? Aunt? Sibling? Teacher?).
No offense is meant by the title or any slant towards "mommy" being the multiple in question: I'm coming to this from my own experiences, and my own experience is as a female-bodied person who personally birthed two children, and looking towards educating my own children about me, my philosophies, my beliefs, and keeping it just *barely* generic enough for other people to find useful. Because Anna is given a name and a face in the story, people can extrapolate Anna's experiences to themselves without having to pretend they *are* Anna. Anna will keep reminding people that it might be different for them, that their experiences of multiples, or other multiples' opinions, are different. That's Anna's job as a literary character in an essentially non-fiction educational book. We hired her for that job.
At any point before the book goes to print, people can Crisses/EmailMe about their points of view, their questions, their complaints about what Anna says or what is covered or not covered. I'll try to steadily fill in the blanks in the Chapters as inspiration and time hits me. It's neat: this is the type of thing I can do from any machine with internet and a browser. I don't have to carry a copy of the manuscript with me.
Meanwhile, you get to preview the text-in-progress and contribute, albeit third hand by emailling me commentary and questions or critiques -- this text is not editable by the public. If anyone wants to be the sole illustrator for the book, let me know. Otherwise, we'll see if Frank can come up with something comic-like for it.
Thanks!
The Crisses
