- A bulletin board matching service?
- by locations, so that there's a possibility of in-person mentoring?
- specifically NOT by locations, so there's no possibility of in-person mentoring? LOL
My thoughts on this are that there should be two methods of matching:
One should be like a "classifieds ads" bulletin board (hell, why not have it be a classifieds board anyway? with other categories rather than "Mentor Sought" "Mentor Available" there can be "Cars" "Pets for Adoption" or whatever...)
The other should be a matchmaking service...where instead of romantic questions, there are questions about other things, like preferences for location of mentor, race, gender, etc.? This way it's up to the pair whether or not to take an email-only mentorship, or to have a face-to-face mentorship, etc.
--flarecarrot speaking here: This kindof goes in with that eligibility thing... maybe it would be best if a balanced sort of committee did the matching based on some kind of interview and a questionnaire? Like.. picture this.. a form filled out, a sort of background check, and an IM and or AIM-type talk... relevant details like this kept on a file for committee members only who use that to match? But then certain guidelines would need to be drawn up, maybe...
